Papiya Ghosh

Professor Papiya Ghosh was a historian of South Asian history and a professor of the University of Patna, in Patna, the capital of Bihar state of India. She was found brutally murdered December 3, 2006, along with an elderly housemaid, Maltidevi, aged about 70, apparently as a result of an attempted burglary.

Prof. Ghosh, an ethnic Bengali, was the sister of Tuktuk Kumar (nee Ghosh), an IAS officer of the West Bengal cadre, and a close associate of the writers Jug Suraiya, now with the Times of India in New Delhi, and Amitabh Mitra.
