British postal orders were issued by some British Field Post Offices that were opened in Croatia as part of supporting the British Army contingent who were part of the peacekeeping forces in what was Yugoslavia. It is not yet known when these BFPOs were opened or closed, as informetion about them is extremely sketchy.
Postal orders have been confirmed as being issued at BFPO 545, Zagreb, as a 50 Pence one is in a private collection in New Zealand.
Collectability of the BFPO-issued Postal Orders
These postal orders are very sought after by collectors, as the location of the BFPOs is a closely guarded secret in the British Armed Forces for security reasons.
