History

In May 2006, the Junction Fire scorched convert|3500|acre|km2|0, then later combined with the Bar Fire, making that convert|100000|acre|km2|-2. Some areas of the Bar Fire are still smoldering in very remote areas. The Junction Fire threatened all of Junction City, and even some parts of the town of Weaverville.

On July 20. 2008 fire threatens communitys near to Junction City and some areas are under mandatory evacuation. Many huge forest fires occurred because of a lighting storm which occurred on June 20, 2008 in Northern California.

Politics

In the state legislature Junction City is located in the 4th Senate District, represented by Republican Sam Aanestad, and in the 1st Assembly District, represented by Democrat Patty Berg.
