Sylhet International University (SIU) is a private university located at Shamimabad, Sylhet, Bangladesh. The university was established by The Private University Act 1992. [ [http://www.sai.uni-heidelberg.de/workgroups/bdlaw/1992-a34.htm Private University Act, 1992] ] SIU is affiliated by University Grants Commission Bangladesh.Vice Chancellor: Professor Dr. Sadruddin Ahmed Chawdhury , former president of Bangladesh Physical Society(1995-1996) and The first vice chancellor of SUST.

The university offers the following programmes:
*Bachelor of Business Administration
*Master of Business Administration (Executive and regular)
*B.Sc. in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE)
*B.Sc. in Electronics & Communication Engineering (Executive and undergraduate)
*B.A. in English
*L.L.B Hons.
*Evening program
*Pharmacy (will start from next semester)
*L.L.B pass cource (will start from next semester)
*Islamic studies (will start from next semester)
*B.ED (will start from next semester)
*Economics (will start from next semester)

The American corner

The American corner, a joint venture of SIU and the American Embassy, is a unique attraction of SIU. Its membership is open for all and the member get the benefits of a rich library, computer, Internet Access, materials for TOOEFL, SAT, GRE, GMAT snd guide for study with scholarship in USA.
