History

The Bridge over Lake Agape at Delanco Camp

Delanco Camp was founded in 1898 as the Fletcher Grove Camp Meeting Association in Delanco Township, NJ [2].

Around 1963, a car crashed into one of the buildings at camp. The crash convinced the board of directors to move the camp to a larger property and build larger and newer facilities. The board of directors eventually agreed to move the camp to Tabernacle, NJ. On June 1965, the camp officially moved to Lake Agape at Tabernacle, NJ. [3]

Since then, the camp has undergone various expansions, including the construction of a new Dining Hall and expansion of the Tabernacle. After the move, the camp also added more summer camps for children and teenagers that are still offered today.

In 1998, the camp celebrated its 100 year anniversary.

Programs

The programs offered at Delanco Camp were designed help build campers friendships, grow closer to God, and provide an entertaining week.

Every summer, the camp features a Camp Meeting which is an extended program with three separate tracks for children, teenagers, and adults [4]. Camp Meeting was the first program that was offered back in 1898.

The camp also offers seven overnight summer camps for 4th graders on up to 12th graders and recent high school graduates. These camps are unique in the way that every camp offers a radically different experience depending on the deans and speakers selected [5]

The camp also sponsors several youth retreats held at the camp in the fall and spring [6]. The facility is also rented to church groups during the fall, winter and spring months [7].

Affiliations

The camp has ties to Asbury Univeristy and Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky and Wesley Biblical Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi. The camp is also closely affiliated with the mission organizations World Gospel Mission and OMS International.

Delanco Camp is a member of the Christian Camp and Conference Association.
