- Brug
A brug is a dog hybrid of a
pug and aBrussels Griffon . [ [http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/brug.htm Brug, Griffon Pug Hybrid, Brugs ] ]Appearance
As the Brug is a
mixed-breed dog (commonly referred to as amutt ), it is difficult to expect how the dog will look. They usually fall between 8-13 lbs. with little variation; the pug and brussels griffon are generally of similar weight. The hallmark of the brug is its beard (if this feature is inherited from its brussels griffon side), and the traditional pug black mask (if inherited from the pug side). Brugs usually have medium length, course fur. They can range from fawn to solid black; most all have a curled tail.
Maintenance
Weekly cleaning of the Brug's wrinkles (if this feature has been inherited from the Pug) with a
Q-tip or cotton ball is mandatory. This is done to prevent infection, though brugs are not as susceptible as pugs are.As brugs easily overheat, many Brug owners choose to have their Brug's fur cut during hot weather. Though this jeoprodizes what many consider the most attractive product of the hybrid, periodical haircuts make the dogs more comfortable.
Popularity
The term 'Brug' was only coined within the last
decade . Their misrepresentation in the animal kingdom is probably due to the unlikeliness of the two breeds mating in the wild; while pugs are household names, the brussels griffon is far less common.References
