Originally a school; it then became a sanitarium from 1867 to 1965, treating many notable people including Mary Todd Lincoln. In the 1960s, the building was remodeled to house the Fox Hill Home, a residential therapeutic facility for adolescent girls.cite web|title=National Register of Historic Places Nomination Form|url=http://gis.hpa.state.il.us/hargis/PDFs/200722.pdf|publisher=Illinois Historic Preservation Agency|work=HAARGIS Database|format=PDF|accessdate=2007-08-04] The Fox Hill Home operated into the 1970s when the building fell into disrepair. In the middle of the 1980s, the building was once again named Bellevue Place, and it was converted into apartments.
