John Riddell (b.1956) is the co-anchor of
Seven News inAdelaide . He has been weekday co-anchor withJane Doyle since 2004, and previously presented the weekend news.Early career
John began as a journalist with
The Messenger news paper in Adelaide while studying at theUniversity of South Australia . He later joined radio 5DN and became a foreign correspondent for the MacQuarie radio network.Television career
John entered television with
TVW-7 in Perth before returning to Adelaide to work atNWS-9 News. There he spent nine years working as a senior journalist, chief of staff, producer, and weekend news reader. He also worked on several sports specials.In 1990 he joinedSAS-7 to work withSeven News . He initially worked as weekend news reader, until 1997 alongside Narelle Hill. He was also a senior reporter, reporting for theSeven Network from places such asSingapore ,Thailand andLondon . In the late 1990s, John was the main substitute anchor for the local current affairs programToday Tonight , which he anchored whenLeigh McClusky was absent or on vacation.In 2004, John became co-anchor of the weekday news, after
Graeme Goodings moved to weekend to help his recovery from cancer.He has also been host of local travel show
