Edwin John Howard

Edwin John Howard

Edwin John (Ted) Howard (1868 – 26 April 1939) was a New Zealand politician of the Labour Party, and the father of cabinet minister Mabel Howard. He had been a prominent member of the New Zealand Socialist Party, a precursor to the Labour Party.

He represented the Christchurch South electorate from 1919 to 1939, when he died.

He was from Australia, but came to New Zealand with his daughters, after his wife died in Bowden, Adelaide, South Australia in 1903.
