"Ranella parthenopaeum" is an out of date scientific name for what is now known as "Cymatium parthenopeum", a species of large sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Ranellidae, the tritons.

This species has 42 different synonyms.

This triton was at one time thought to be endemic to Italy, but as well as occurring in the Mediterranean Sea, it is now known to live extensively in the western Atlantic from North Carolina to Uruguay, and around New Zealand.
