DON'T DO IT Campaign

The Don't Do It Campaign is a campaign started by a group of skateboarders and a company named Consolidated Skateboards committed to a movement that describes itself as "dedicated to preserving the soul of the skate, surf, and snowboard industry." [ [http://dontdoitarmy.com/what_is_dont_do_it.php About "Don't Do It"] ] The campaign's main argument is predicated on a belief that skateboarding should be free from the influence of large corporations like Wal-Mart [ [http://www.walmart.com Wal-Mart Website] ] and sporting goods stores like Dick's Sporting Goods. [ [http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/home/index.jsp Dick's Sporting Goods Website] ] These businesses sell skateboard and snowboard merchandise in their stores. "Don't Do It" claims that skateboarding is an original individual endeavor, and should not be subject to the profit-making policies of the business world.

The "Don't Do It" name and logo are a pun on the Nike logo and marketing slogan "Just Do It". In late 2006, Nike introduced their new line of skate shoes, [ [http://www.nikesb.com Nike SB Website] ] several decades after "Don't Do It" claims that individuals skateboarders had built their own reputation and a skateboarding culture.
