"Helicarion australis" is a species of gastropod in the Helicarionidae family. Known as the Australian native snail, it is endemic to Australia.

Description

They are smaller than common garden snails with more colourful shells in a flattish spiral.

Habitat

"H." Australis can be found around Sydney bushland and old gardens. They differ from common garden snails ("Helix aspersa") which attack plants in that they prefer decomposing waste wood and fungus and do not eat fresh, growing plants.
