Delphinium Blue

Delphinium Blue

Delphinium Blue is the principal name under which American electronic music producer and songwriter Arlin Godwin has recorded since 2001.

He has been nominated in his home town of Washington, DC for 22 Washington Area Music Association WAMMIE awards and has had 2 wins.

The Secret Life of Boys

According to the official artist web site, Delphinium Blue began in 2001 when Arlin Godwin moved into a new apartment near the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C. where he set up a state of the art digital studio and went to work on his first full length album. According to the DB web site "The Secret Life of Boys" took a year to write and produce.

The album then led to Delphinium Blue signing with upstart San Francisco label INgrooves which is now home to Thievery Corporation, Paul Oakenfold, Crystal Method and Dolly Parton, to name a few. The project was released July 23, 2003, and has, according to Apple iTunes charts, consistently remained Delphinium Blue's top seller. The album featured 12 tracks including the homoerotic single "Boy Seventeen". The song was performed live before 225,000 people at Washington, D.C.'s Capital Pride Festival in June 2004. This was Delphinium Blue's second live show ever. The first happened on April 3, 2003, at legendary Washington, D.C., nightclub Nation which was closed in 2006 to make way for a new baseball stadium.

Rush Push

Even before "The Secret Life of Boys" came out in the summer of 2003 Arlin Godwin was deep into production on his next project "Rush Push". There had been enough of a break in between completion of the first album and its subsequent release by INgrooves that Arlin had plenty of time to work on new material. The results became the second Delphinium Blue album in only one year. Released on October 14, 2003 the album featured 13 tracks including the single "Little Sister" which unexpectedly received considerable radio play in Great Britain. The song "Joy" was later picked up for airplay at SIRIUS Radio and reached #13 on the OutQ Top 20 chart.

Other Releases

Other projects have included the 5 track EP "Budhatronic", the album "Stereo Porno Groove", an electronica remake of Stevie Nicks' classic song "Sara", and a greatest hits release titled "The Electronica Collection".
