Roy Austin

Roy L. Austin (born 1939) is the United States Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago.

Born in Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, 1964 he moved to the US to study and later became a US citizen. He attended Yale University and graduated with a BA in sociology. While there he befriended future-US President George W. Bush and both were inducted to the secret society Skull and Bones. Austin was Associate Professor of Sociology, Justice, and African American Studies at Pennsylvania State University and served as director of the Crime, Law, and Justice Program and the Africana Research Center. Bush appointed Austin to the post of Ambassador and he was sworn in October 19, 2001.
