"Austrofusus glans" is a medium-sized sea snail or whelk, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Buccinidae, the true whelks.

This species is endemic to New Zealand. It is often abundant from low tide to about 550 m, on fine sand or silty mud.

hell description

The shell has a single keel on the spire whorls, and two keels on the body whorl, both bearing regular sharp tubercles, 15 to 18 per whorl.

The shell coloration is yellowish-white, axially streaked with reddish-brown to purplish-brown, the tubercles picked out in white. The periostracum is light to darkish brown, darker in shells from deeper water.

The shell height is up to 74 mm, and the width is up to 43 mm.
