- HMS L26
HMS "L26" was a
British L class submarine built byVickers ,Barrow-in-Furness . She was transferred to HM Dockyard,Portsmouth for completion. She was laid down on31 January 1917 and commissioned on an unknown date.HMS "L26" was damaged in the
Mediterranean in March 1929 but was repaired inGibraltar . She was used as a trainingsubmarine from 1940 to 1942.She was transferred to
Canada in 1944 as aanti submarine training ship. She was based atDigby, Nova Scotia atHMCS Cornwallis and atBermuda , attached toHMS Somers Isle . She was sunk as a target for sonar testing offSt. Margarets Bay, Nova Scotia . The wreck was discovered during the search for wreckage from theSwissair Flight 111 crashHMS "L26" was scrapped in Canada in 1946.
