Uelkal

Uelkal ( _ru. Уэлькаль) is a village ("selo") in Iultinsky District of Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Russia, located approximately km to mi|100|precision=-1 away from the administrative centre of Egvekinot, at the mouth of Holy Cross Bay (Zaliv Kresta). The village has a secondary school, a medical assistant-midwife centre, a pharmacy, a communications centre, and a store. The main sources of livelihood for the residents of this town are hunting seals, walrus, and whales.

During World War II, this was one stage on the ferry route for US-made warplanes to Russia.

As of 2002, the town had 258 inhabitants, of whom 202 were indigenous people.
