History

*February 1 1889 Opened within establishing public railway between Kōzu Station and Shizuoka Station. Started handling freight and passenger services.
*November 12 1909 Became a station of Tōkaidō Main Line.
*December 1 1934 Became a station of Gotemba Line.
*May 15 1943 Yamakita Engine Center was abolished.
*March 31 1979 Discontinued freight services.
*April 1 1987 Along with privatization and division of JNR, Central Japan Railway Company started operating this station.
