Following on from the success of the Bü 133 Jungmeister the company designed a
trainer aircraft , the Bü 180 (later named Student) which was a low-wingcantilever monoplane . The wing was of wooden construction with a mixture ofplywood and fabric covering. Thefuselage was a steel tube frame forward and a woodenmonocoque aft with a fabric covering. The Student had a fixed tailskid landing gear and was powered by aWalter Mikron IIinline engine . Theprototype first flew in 1937 and a small number were built for civilian use.pecifications (Bü 180)
