Charters Towers Regional Council is a Local Government Area in Queensland, Australia. The Local Government Area was created in March 2008 as a result of the report of the Local Government Reform Commission released in July 2007. The new Council, located in North Queensland, contains the entire area of two previous Local Government Areas:
*City of Charters Towers; and
*Shire of Dalrymple.
The report recommends that the new local government area should not be divided into wards and elect six councillors and a mayor. The Charters Towers Regional Council will cover an area of convert|68388|km2|sqmi|0|lk=on, contain an estimated resident population in 2006 of 12,280 and have an estimated operating budget of AUD27.5m.
The Regional Council will cover the city of Charters Towers and the towns of Greenvale, Mingela and Pentland.
