Raja Maharaj Singh was the Governor of Bombay from 1948 to 1952.

At the age of 72 he captained the Bombay Governor's XI against a touring Commonwealth XI in a match starting on November 25 1950. He was dismissed for 4 by Jim Laker and took no further part in the game, being 'absent ill' in the second innings. Laker was 44 years younger than the man he dismissed [http://www.cricketarchive.com/Archive/Players/40/40483/40483.html] . He is both the oldest cricketer to make his first class debut and the oldest player to play the first class game [http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/columns/content/current/story/304620.html] .

Also known as Kunwar Singh, he was born on 17 May 1878 in Kapurthala, Punjab and died on 6 June 1959.
