Chariho High School inRhode Island , he was named a Rawlings Second-Team All-American as a Senior. He also played football as a wide receiver and safety his junior and sophomore years.Megrew was selected by the
Los Angeles Dodgers in the 5th round of the 2002MLB Draft and signed onJune 5 ,2002 .Pitched for the
Gulf Coast Dodgers in 2002, theOgden Raptors in 2003 and theVero Beach Dodgers in 2004. UnderwentTommy John Surgery onSeptember 24 2004 and missed most of the 2005 season. He was selected by theFlorida Marlins in theRule 5 draft before the 2006 season. Failed to make the Marlins roster out of spring training and was returned to the Dodgers, where he spent the 2006 season at Vero Beach.In 2007, he was added to the Dodgers 40-man extended roster, and placed on the Double-A
