Rich Orloff

Rich Orloff is an award-winning playwright living in New York. Among his full-length plays are the comedies "Love Happens" (winner, 1994 Playwrights First Award), "Big Boys" (winner, 1997 InterPlay International Play Festival and second place, 2002 Kaufman and Hart Prize for New American Comedy), "Someone's Knocking" (critic's pick, Back Stage West, 1998), "Domestic Tranquility" (winner, 1999 Theatre Conspiracy New Play Contest), "Guy Stuff" (finalist, 2000 Santa Fe Performing Arts Competition),the drama "Shedding Light" (winner, 2000 Abeles Foundation Playwrights Award), and the play "Vietnam 101: The War on Campus", based on true stories of 1960's college students. His play, "Couples", an evening of eight short two-character comedies and dramas about love and desire, was present at the Workshop's Jewel Box Theater in New York City from May 9 - 19 2007, according to New York Theatre Guide. Orloff's one-acts have had over 400 productions in the United States, Canada, Scotland, Germany, Austria, Russia, Holland, Brazil, India, Serbia and Singapore. Playscripts has published seven volumes of his short plays.

He has taught playwriting at his alma mater Oberlin College, at Miami's City Theater, and for the Connecticut Young Playwrights program.
