Tetch (Hasidic dynasty)

The small town of Tetch located near the big city of Ungvar, Ukraine. Its settlement reached a peak of 1,000 Jewish inhabitants by the year 1940.

Upon the departure of Rabbi Lipa Teitelbaum, known as the 'bal kedushas Yom Tov' who was the city's chief rabbi until his father death, the city replaced him with his brother Rabbi Betzalel.

Few Years after Rabbi Betzalel's death Rabbi Mayer Gruenwald (son of Rabbi Avrohom Yosef of Ungvar) became its chief rabbi.

He established a yeshiva of 45 teenagers and erected a cheder where the young children learned until the age of 13. In January 1940 Rabbi Joel Teitelbaum of Satmar was the city's guest.

The Nazis entered this city in late May 1944 and uprooted the Jewish community.

At present the Tetch Dynasty is carried on by his son grand rabbi Yechiel Gruenwald.Fact|date=November 2007
