] D'Addario had a recurring role as SWAT team commander Jasper in "Homicide". He also worked as a technical advisor on "Homicide" primarily as a source on the Baltimore Police Department and a liaison between the production and the department. Simon later moved from writing books to television and became a writer and producer for the series. D'Addario was a technical advisor for Simon's next project the Emmy-award winning miniseries "The Corner" and had a small role as a desk sergeant.

D'Addario served as a technical advisor on the first two seasons of Peabody award winning "The Wire". "The Wire" was also created by Simon. D'Addario had a recurring role as the gambling addicted Grand Jury Prosecutor Gary DiPasquale in "The Wire".Cite web|url=http://www.hbo.com/thewire/cast/characters/gary_dipasquale.shtml|title=Character profile - Grand Jury Prosecutor Gary DiPasquale|accessdate=2008-02-12|publisher=HBO|year=2008] Simon has speculated that D'Addario's first appearance on the series in the season 2 episode "Undertow"cite episode | title = Undertow | episodelink = Undertow (The Wire episode) | series = The Wire | serieslink = The Wire (TV series) | credits = David Simon, Ed Burns | writers = | network = HBO | station = | city = | airdate = 2003-06-29 | season = 2 | number = 5] cite web| year = 2004| title = "The Wire" episode guide - episode 18 Undertow| publisher = HBO| accessdate = 2006-08-24| url = http://www.hbo.com/thewire/episode/season2/episode18.shtml] coincided with his forced retirement. Simon wrote to Mayor Martin O'Malley to ask if there was any link and seeking confirmation that other city employees did not risk losing their jobs by appearing on the series and received no response. D'Addario stood down as technical advisor because he was no longer part of the police department but continued to appear on the show until its conclusion.cite episode|title = Corner Boys|episodelink = Corner Boys|series = The Wire|serieslink = The Wire (TV series)|credits = Agnieszka Holand|writers = Richard Price (teleplay), Ed Burns & Richard Price (story)|network = HBO|station = |city = |airdate = 2004-11-05|season = 4|number = 08] cite web| year = 2006| title = Episode guide - episode 45 Corner Boys| publisher = HBO| accessdate = 2006-11-01| url = http://www.hbo.com/thewire/episode/season4/episode08.shtml] cite episode | title = Final Grades | episodelink = Final Grades (The Wire episode) | series = The Wire | serieslink = The Wire (TV series) | credits = Ernest Dickerson | writers = David Simon (story and teleplay), Ed Burns (story) | network = HBO | station = | city = | airdate = 2004-12-10 | season = 4 | number = 13] cite web| year = 2006| title = "The Wire" episode guide - episode 50 Final Grades| publisher = HBO| accessdate = 2007-10-17| url = http://www.hbo.com/thewire/episode/season4/episode50.shtml] cite episode|title = Not for Attribution|episodelink = Not for Attribution|series = The Wire|serieslink = The Wire (TV series)|credits = Scott and Joy Kecken|writers = Chris Collins (story and teleplay), David Simon (story)|network = HBO|station = |city = |airdate = 2008-01-20|season = 5|number = 3] Cite web|url=http://www.hbo.com/thewire/episode/season5/episode53.shtml|title="The Wire" episode guide - episode 53 Not for Attribution|accessdate=2008-01-22|publisher=HBO|year=2008] cite episode | title = -30- | episodelink = -30- (The Wire episode) | series = The Wire | serieslink = The Wire (TV series) | credits = Clark Johnson | writers = David Simon (story and teleplay), Ed Burns (story) | network = HBO | station = | city = | airdate = 2008-03-09 | season = 5 | number = 10] Cite web|url=http://www.hbo.com/thewire/episode/season5/episode60.shtml|title="The Wire" episode guide - episode 60 –30–|accessdate=2008-03-10|publisher=HBO|year=2008]
