- Muhanga
Muhanga is a district ("akarere") in South Province,
Rwanda . Its capital isGitarama , one of Rwanda's largest cities, gateway to the west and south of the country and seat of the provisional government during the 1994Rwandan genocide .Geography
The district lies in the geographic centre of Rwanda, due-west of
Kigali , and contains three major radial roads leading to Kigali,Butare andKibuye . It is also home toKabgayi , the traditional centre of thecatholic church in Rwanda, andShyogwe , a big anglican centre.Sectors
Muhanga district is divided into 12 sectors ("imirenge"): Muhanga, Cyeza, Kibangu, Kiyumba, Mushishiro, Kabacuzi, Nyabinoni, Nyamabuye, Nyarusange, Rongi, Rugendabari and Shyogwe.
