The southern terminus is at PA 287 in Middlebury Township. The northern terminus is the New York state line north of Knoxville.
History
The portion of Route 249 from Route 49 in Knoxville to the New York state line near Austinburg was originally designated as Route 149 from 1928[2] until 1946, when it was replaced by an extended Route 249.[3][4]
