Dwayne Day (born December 30, 1985 in Mount Vernon, Georgia, United States) is a basketball player at the University of South Carolina.

High School

Dwayne Day is from Mount Vernon, Georgia, where he led the Montgomery High School Eagles (Georgia) to the Elite Eight in the State Tournament as a senior averaging 20.0 ppg, 12.0 rpg and 6.0 apg. As a junior, he averaged 24.0 ppg, 11.0 rpg and 4.0 apg as his team went to the Final Four of the State Tournament. Day played for the AAU Team Atlanta Celtics, which won the national championship in 2003, including winning the Adidas Big-Time Tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were the No. 1 AAU team in the country prior to his senior year. He played with his cousin, Dwight Howard, the No. 1 overall pick by the Orlando Magic in the 2004 NBA Draft; Josh Smith of the Atlanta Hawks, and Randolph Morris of the New York Knicks were also on the Celtics. Day was recruited by Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and Mississippi State, but chose to play at the University of South Carolina.

College

As a freshman, he played in 11 games and averaged 3.1 ppg and 0.8 rpg, but he broke his right hand in practice and was out for the remainder of the season.

As a sophomore, he averaged 14.3 mpg, 4.8 ppg, 2.1 rpg. In the Championship Game against Michigan in the 2006 National Invitation Tournament, Day sank two three-point field-goals in the first half. He finished the game with 8 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assists, 1 steal in 12 minutes of play. Day scored a career-high 18 points (4-6 from 3PT) in the season-opening win against Western Carolina University. On November 20th 2005, Day scored 8 points in 19 minutes in the home-opening win over Toledo, and he collected the first slam dunk of his career.

As a junior, he averaged 22.9 mpg, 7.3 ppg, 2.7 rpg playing in all 30 Gamecock contests.

Personal

Day has a younger brother, Jamaal, who is a 6'4" senior at Wilkinson County High School in Irwinton, Georgia.
