The shell is large and solid, broadly ovate, with the nucleus at about the anterior fourth or fifth. It is strongly sculptured with about 20 rounded primary radial ribs, mostly with a much weaker radial in each interspace; the whole crossed by dense but weak concentric growth lines.
The external coloration of the shell is deep orange-brown with light-blue ocellate markings and streaks in the radial interspaces. Internally it is light yellowish-brown, with a golden sheen.
The maximum length is 78 mm, width 65 mm, and height 34 mm.
