John Henry Capstick (
September 2 ,1856 ,Lawrence, Massachusetts -March 17 ,1918 ,Montville, New Jersey ) was an American Republican Party politician who representedNew Jersey 's 5th congressional district in theUnited States House of Representatives from 1918 to 1919.Capstick was born in
Lawrence, Massachusetts onSeptember 2 ,1856 , where he attended the local public schools. He moved with his parents toProvidence, Rhode Island in 1868 and attended a business college. He was a member of the Rhode Island Militia in 1870 and 1871. Capstick moved toMontville, New Jersey in 1883, and engaged in the manufacture of textile fabrics the same year. He was a member of the State sewerage commission from 1905 to 1908, and president of the State board of health from 1908 to 1914.Capstick was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fourth and Sixty-fifth Congresses and served from
March 4 ,1915 , until his death inMontville, New Jersey onMarch 17 ,1918 . He was interred in Greenwood Cemetery inBoonton, New Jersey .References
