Hapoel Katamon Football Club ( _he. מועדון כדורגל הפועל קטמון) is an Israeli association football club in Jerusalem, Israel. The club currently plays in the Southern division of Liga Alef and is based at the Teddy Stadium.

History

The club was founded in 2004 by a merger of two clubs from Abu Ghosh and Mevasseret Zion, and was named Hapoel Mevasseret Zion/Abu Ghosh. In 2007 the club was bought by a group of disenchanted Hapoel Jerusalem fans, and renamed Hapoel Katamon. The new name was taken from Katamon, a suburn of Jerusalem where Hapoel played from their establishment in the 1930s until moving to the Teddy Stadium in the 1980s.

The club is one of the first in Israel to be owned by its fans, [ [http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/914954.html Thousands show up to cheer experimental fan-owned soccer team] Haaretz] and was formed at the initiative of Alon Liel, a former Israeli ambassador to Turkey and South Africa, and now the club's president. In November 2007, the club moved to the Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem, after outgrowing its 300-seat home base in Mevasseret Zion.
