PICKit

PICKit

The PICkit1 is a simple USB programmer for lines of PIC microcontrollers. It includes a demoboard featuring 4 LEDS, a switch, and a potentiometer. It's default program (which is taught how to make in their beginner guide) flashes the leds rotating through them. The direction is reversed with the pushswitch and the speed is changed with the potentiometer.

There is also a newer generation PICkit2 which separates the programmer (and also debugger) unit from the evaluation board. It uses internal a PIC18F2550 with FullSpeed USB instead of the PIC16C745 with LowSpeed USB only. Also the new firmware of the PICkit2 allows the user to program and debug mostly all of the actual 8 and 16 bit PICmicro and dsPIC of the Microchip productline.
