General elections were held in Trinidad and Tobago in 1986. The result was a resounding victory for the National Alliance for Reconstruction, whose leader, A.N.R. Robinson, became Prime Minister.

1 The National Alliance for Reconstruction was a new party, but consisted of an alliance between the United Labour Front, the Democratic Action Congress, the Tapia House Movement and the Organisation for National Reconstruction, which won a combined 10 seats in the 1981 elections.
