Sorn (
Scottish Gaelic :"Kiln") is a small village inEast Ayrshire ,Scotland . It is situated on theRiver Ayr . It has a population of roughly 350. Local services include: a pub, a church, a general store, a motorbike shop and a television shop. There is also a village hall and a bowling green and primary school. Britain in Bloom competition. In2004 it won Gold in the Small Villages Category and has previously won, amongst other awards, "Highly Commended Certificate" a number of times in the1980 s.Being the birthplace of the famous preacher
Alexander Peden (c.1626 - 1686), Sorn has an interestingCovenanter history.It has its own milk company run by a local business man. A Water company too: Sorn Water.
