- Robert Frederic Bayford
Robert Frederic Bayford OBE KC (
24 September 1871 –5 June 1951 ) was an Englishbarrister .Bayford was the eldest son of
Robert Augustus Bayford , also an eminent barrister. He was educated atEton College andTrinity Hall, Cambridge , rowing in the 1893University Boat Race and graduating in 1895. He wascalled to the Bar by theInner Temple the same year and specialised inprobate anddivorce cases. Hetook silk in 1919 and became aBencher in 1925. From 1929 to 1944 he was Recorder ofPortsmouth and from 1938 to 1947 he was deputy chairman of theHampshire Quarter Sessions .During the
First World War he served as a Divisional Commander with theMetropolitan Special Constabulary , and for this he was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1920 civilian war honours.Notable clients included
