Alteckendorf

Alteckendorf (sometimes spelled "Alt Eckendorf") is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department in Alsace in northeastern France.

It is located east of the Vosges Mountains nestled between the mountain range and Germany. It is an hour from Strasbourg and near the militarily historically famous Haguenau. The majority of the inhabitants can speak and or understand German and do speak French but their version of French is called Alsacian. Alsacian is a mixture of French and German specifically due to the tug-of-war between France and Germany for the area over the past thousand years.
