Votojournalism

Votojournalism

Votojournalism is a portmanteau of voter and photojournalism, used to describe photographs taken by the general public of a political campaign. These photographs are then uploaded to an image-sharing website such as Flickr and thereby made accessible to all internet users via direct access or a feed.

The term "votojournalism" was coined by [http://techpresident.com/node/32 TechPresident.com] in February, 2007.

We call it "votojournalism" because it is a prime example of voter generated content, photojournalism by the people.

Votojournalism is a feature of voter-generated content and widespread use of web 2.0 technologies by presidential campaigns. In fact, the term may come to mean that in a broader sense rather than the stricter sense of user-generated photjournalism. Other salient examples include the YouTube user-generated content debate, the use of micro-blogging by Barack Obama and the raising of funds using social media.
