Jeff Walz

Jeff Walz is a candidate in the fifth congressional district of Wisconsin for the U.S. House of Representatives and is associate Professor of political science professor at Concordia University Wisconsin. Walz is known for his book on the complex relationship between religion and politics, especially the study of pastors entering into politics. He has also written two articles in his subject

Personal life

Born in Waconia, Minnesota, in 1967, Jeff Walz grew up in Seward, Nebraska, and moved a number of times thereafter. He spent time in Edwardsville, Illinois; Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Valparaiso, Indiana; Lincoln, Nebraska; Wheaton, Illinois; and Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Walz now lives in Cedar Grove, Wisconsin, with his wife of 14 years, Jennifer, and one child, Matthew, 4-years-old.

Education

Walz attended high school in Edmonton and earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Print Journalism from Valparaiso University in 1989. He spent the next two years as a journalist for the Vidette-Messenger in Valparaiso, covering politics and transportation issues. He then attended graduate school at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, earning his Ph.D. in Political Science in 1996.

Career

Walz has taught political science at both Wheaton College, Illinois and Concordia University Wisconsin, both of which are religious-affiliated private schools.
