William Bain

William Bain

Dr William Bain is a lecturer at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth in the department of International Politics. He attended the University of South Carolina where he obtained a BA. He also attended University of British Columbia in Vancouver where he achieved an MA and PhD. Previously to joining UWA he lectured at University of Glasgow in international relations theory, international ethics, and eighteenth century political thought. He is also well known to his students as a keen fan of the Vancouver Canucks ice hockey team and regularly gives updates about their achievements before starting his lectures.

Research Interests

William Bain's main research interests are international relations theory and normative approaches to world affairs. He has written one book, "Between Anarchy and Society: Trusteeship and the Obligations of Power", and edited/contributed to another, "The Empire of Security and the Safety of the People".

Work and Socal life

William Bain works in International Politics department of the University of Wales Aberystwyth as a lecturer. There he holds the positions of head of external affairs and head of graduate studies. He has a wife and child.
