Iklaina or Iklena ( _el. Ίκλαινα) is a historic village in the province of
Pylia , prefecture ofMessenia ,Greece . Approximately 14 km to the northeast of the modern town ofPylos and 2 km NE of GR-9 (Pyrgos -Kyparissia - Pylos - Methoni). Important archaeological remains of the LateBronze Age (ca. 1600-1100 BC ) period have been brought to light through excavations and surface survey by theArchaeological Society and theUniversity of Missouri–St. Louis under the direction of ProfessorMichael Cosmopoulos . Other periods represented are the Late Classical and the Byzantine.Geography

Iklaina has a small school, which is not used anymore, a church, and a square ("
plateia ").Iklaina is surrounded by mountains with a rocky terrain, bushes and some forests and groves.
