Public Campaign

Public Campaign

Public Campaign is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to sweeping reform that aims to dramatically reduce the role of big special interest money in American politics. Public Campaign works to bring Clean Elections, or publicly financed elections to local, state, and federal elections. Already, seven states and two cities have some form of Clean Elections.

Based in Washington, DC, Public Campaign was founded in 1997. Nick Nyhart, the organization's president, is known across the reform community for his years of grassroots experience and dedication to Clean Elections reform.

Public Campaign has published several reports over the years about the role of money in the political process, including the Color of Money that detailed the unsurprising fact that a majority of campaign contributions to presidential candidates are from upper class white neighborhoods.
