Turtle Mountain is a privately-held natural foods company located in Eugene, Oregon. Founded in 1987, the company makes a variety of dairy free frozen desserts. History

Turtle Mountain was created in 1987 by current President/CEO Mark Brawerman. In 1990, Turtle Mountain introduced Living Lightly pints, a line of soy based, rice syrup and fruit sweetened frozen dessert products. In 1998, Turtle Mountain introduced Organic Soy Delicious, a line of soy-based frozen dessert quarts. This brand was later renamed to So Delicious Dairy Free. Turtle Mountain followed that up in 2001 with the introduction of Purely Decadent, a super-premium line of frozen desserts sold in pints.

Turtle Mountain’s company name was inspired by a place in Nicaragua that borders the ocean, where sea turtles lay their eggs. Natives to the area refer to the place as Turtle Mountain. It’s Soy Delicious

Partnership with Farm Sanctuary

On March 7, 2007, Turtle Mountain announced a partnership with Farm Sanctuary, a national farm animal protection organization, and cartoonist Dan Piraro, best known as the creator of the syndicated panel cartoon Bizarro. The campaign's stated intention is to "tap children's natural affinity for animals and educate them about healthy nutrition and the impact of factory farming on animals and the environment.".
