Timothy Raymond studied Composition with John Lambert and Organ with Ralph Downes at the Royal College of Music. After gaining prizes for composition and having early work performed through the
Society for the Promotion of New Music , his continued studies included masterclasses and short courses with Humphrey Searle, Peter Maxwell Davies, Jonathan Harvey and Győrgy Ligeti. He gave the UK première of Ligeti’s Two Études for Organ and was awarded a studentship and organ scholarship by the University of Keele to study for an MA in American Music. He subsequently received a Postgraduate Certificate in Education after studies at the University of Reading.Timothy Raymond’s compositions have ranged from theatrical, community and educational projects to a series of chamber works played at venues such as De Ijsbreker in Amsterdam, the British Music Information Centre and Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. Recent works have been premièred by the Paragon Ensemble of Scotland and the PM Music Ensemble. He is currently working on a work for Wind Orchestra and percussion commissioned by the College Commission Consortium for performance in 2004. He is Head of Composition and Contemporary Music at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
