"Hydrophylax chalconotus" is a species of frog in the Ranidae family.It is endemic to Indonesia.Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, rivers, intermittent rivers, freshwater marshes, intermittent freshwater marches, plantations , rural gardens, irrigated land, and seasonally flooded agricultural land.

Formerly known as "Rana chalconota", that taxon was applied to what is today named "Hydrophylax raniceps". In the 1990s, it became generally agreed that "Hydrophylax raniceps" applied to specimens in northern and western Sumatra, Peninsula Malaysia and Borneo. "Hydrophylax chalconota"'s range is limited to Southern Sumatra, Java and Bali
