- Sandvollan
Sandvollan is a rural settlement in
Inderøy ,Norway on the north part of Inderøy, bordering toSteinkjer andBorgenfjord in the east,Kjerknesvågen on the west andTrondheimsfjord on the north. It was between 1907 and 1962 a separate municipality. There are two villages in Sandvollan,Gangstad and Småland. At Gangstad there is agrocery store , and between the two villages isSkjelvågen , aharbour that used to be a stop on thesteam ship routes. Sandvollan is mostly an agriarian settlement, though it also functions as asuburb for Steinkjer, located 10 km away.There are two
church es in Sandvollan;Hustad Church from the 1100s andHeggstad Church from 1887. The older church was built for thechieftan of Hustad, Bård Standale, who wassheriff for Eystein Haraldsson around 1150. A new church was built because the old one became too small.
