Alan Harshman

Alan Harshman

Alan Harshman is a computer software engineer specializing in high-performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence and data mining applications. He has worked on various computer ventures including supercomputer manufacturer Thinking Machines (where he worked on the FROSTBURG project for the National Security Agency) and Torrent Systems. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Caltech and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT.

Harshman is quite reclusive in the same manner as Stephen Wolfram and Richard Stallman, and has recently been active in various privacy rights organizations, including the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the Electronic Privacy Information Center.
