William Eliot Morris Zborowski, Count de Montsaulvain (1858 --
April 1 1903 ) was aracing driver .Born in Elizabethtown,
New Jersey , he was the son of Martin Zborowski (or Zabriskie) and Emma Morris. In 1880 he married a wealthy Americanheiress , born Margaret Laura Astor Carey (1853–1911), a granddaughter ofWilliam Backhouse Astor, Sr. of the prominentAstor family . She had been Baroness de Stuers before her divorce from Alphonse Lambert Eugène, Ridder de Stuers (1841-1919). They were the parents of the racing driverLouis Zborowski .He was an all round sportsman but particularly liked Mercedes race cars.
He resided in
Melton Mowbray in England and became a naturalised Briton.Eliot Zborowski was killed when his car crashed during the
La Turbie hill climb in 1903; his riding mechanic, the Marquis of Pollange, was thrown clear and survived. His sonLouis Zborowski was also killed at theItalian Grand Prix in 1924.External links
