- Generala
Generala (from the Spanish for "Alert") is a dice game similar to the English game of
Dice Poker , and the American gameYahtzee . Although it is sometimes played in Europe and the United States, Generala is most popular in Latin America.Rules
Generala is a game played by two or more players. Players take turns rolling five dice up to three times. After each roll, players choose which dice (if any) they wish to keep, and roll the rest again.
One way players may choose to score their dice is by taking the sum of all their dice with a particular face value. For example, if a player rolled three 5's, that player could take 15 points in the 5's section. Once a player has taken points on a specific number, he or she may not take points for that value again during the game.
Players can also create special groupings of dice, similar to poker hands. These are the different groupings and their values:
*Straight: 20
*Full House: 30
*Four of a Kind: 40
*Generala: 60A straight is any combination of dice in order: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, or 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Additionally, in a straight, a one can act as both a one or a two, meaning a 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 is also legal, as well as a 1, 1, 3, 4, and 5. Fact|date=May 2008
A Full House is any set of three combined with a set of two. For example, three 5's and two 3's, or any other such combination.
Four of a Kind is four of any number.
Generala is five of any number.
In addition, if a player makes a Straight, Full House, or Four of a Kind on his or her first roll, it is worth 10 extra points, and if a player makes Generala on his or her first roll that player automatically wins the game.
If a player fails to make any valid score, or chooses not to take any other score, that player can scratch a category, such as Generala or Twos. If a player scratches a category, that player cannot score on that category for the rest of the game, and if a player scratches Generala before rolling Generala on their first roll, that player no longer automatically wins.
The winner is the player at the end of the game with the most points, with the exception of any player rolling Generala in one before scratching that category.
