Bill Reardon (born
June 24 ,1941 ) is an American politician and educator. He served in the Kansas state House of Representatives from1975 to2004 , when he was replaced in the House of Representatives by his wife Kathy.He was born in and is a life-long resident of
Kansas City, Kansas . After attendingBishop Ward High School , he received a BA from Rockhurst College, nowRockhurst University , in1963 . He began teaching high school government and social studies atBishop Miege High School in nearbyRoeland Park and also became the girls assistant basketball coach. He would teach at the same school for the next 40+ years. He earned his Masters degree fromUniversity of Missouri–Kansas City . After hearing student's cynical and disillusioned view of politicians during theWatergate scandal , he decide to take a stand and prove that honest, humble and ethical people can and do serve in public office. In1974 , he won the Democratic Party primary and then the general election. Reardon served 15 consecutive terms in the House, only the second statelegislator to do so in the history ofKansas . An advocate for education, fair labor practices, social services and opposition to thedeath penalty andcapital punishment , he is known for his wisdom, story telling and quick sense ofhumor . Bill has been married to Kathy, his wife for over 40 years, and they have three grown daughters. He currently works as a lobbyist for the Kansas City Kansas School District.
