"Umbraculum sinicum" is a species of unusual large sea snail or limpet, a marine opisthobranch gastropod mollusc in the family Umbraculidae.

Distribution

This species is found in Indo-Pacific seas, south to Australia, the Kermadec Islands, and northern New Zealand.

Habitat

This opisthobranch limpet can be found at low tide on open coasts under seaweed and in gutters.

Description

The animal is large, thick and oval, the sides of the foot crowded with large soft tubercles. The coloration of the tubercles is lavender-grey, brown in the interstices, the gills are buff, and the sole of the foot is yellowish-buff.

The shell is relatively large, broadly oval, solid, almost flat, white and calcareous, covered by a yellowish periostracum. The shell length is up to 88 mm, and width up to 70 mm.
